Welcome to the Thunder Bay Chapter of the Canadian Celiac Association

The CANADIAN CELIAC ASSOCIATION is a national organization dedicated to providing services and support to persons with celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis through programs of awareness, advocacy, education and research.

Membership Renewal

Don't forget to renew your membership! The Celiac Association depends on your membership fees to assist with educating, raising awareness, advocating and funding research - all related to celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis.

New Members

Are you newly diagnosed and confused about what is safe to eat? CCA Members are welcome to a free 'peer counselling session'. Eileen Bottos, an experienced celiac for 10 plus years, will meet with you one-on-one to advise you on what is safe to eat and what is not, how to bake with gluten-free flours, how to avoid cross-contamination, etc. Call Eileen at 767-4958 or email her at eabottos@hotmail.com for an appointment.

Upcoming Events

We will be taking a summer break. Our next event will be our General Meeting in September.

General Meetings

Our General Meetings are held four times a year at Jenkens Reception Centre (basement) 226 S. Syndicate Avenue beginning at 7 pm. Meetings are open to the public. Come have a coffee and some GF snacks, and share your knowledge with other celiacs.

Please note, our September meeting has been changed to: Monday, September 27, 2010.

Following are the upcoming meetings for the year:

Monday, September 27, 2010
Monday, November 29, 2010
Monday, February 28, 2011
Monday, June 6, 2011

General Information

A special thank you to all those who supported our walkathon on June 12. Read more about the walkathon in our September newsletter.

If you are currently a member and you are not receiving a copy of Celiac News by either email or mail, please contact Bonnie at bmknott@tbaytel.net.

Our perogy sale at the April General Meeting was a great success! Special thanks to perogy makers Bonnie, Eileen, Janelle, Joanne, Katherine, and Wanda for donating their time, and extra thanks to Katherine for donating use of her kitchen. We were told they were the best perogies ever. If there is a demand, we may be making them again.

Looking for Volunteers

If you would like to have a Chapter Christmas Party in 2010, it is never too early to start planning. If you are interested in volunteering on the planning committee, please contact Deb Paris at debparis60@gmail.com
